How can you narrow it down to 500 miles of coastline when it's over a week away? This thing could still miss the GOM and hit Florida/East Coast.canegrl04 wrote:Everyone from Texas to MS should be watching Dean the most.By the weekend the models should give us a reliable guidance for where he is headed. One thing is for sure-he will be a monster

Very Dangerous Situation for Caribbean islands and then Mexico's Yucatan:
It appears that Dean is entering waters of greater heat content and
could become a category 4-5 hurricane in the next 5-6 days as it
moves over waters of explosive heat content.
The lesser antilless will have to contend with a category 1 hurricane
possibly category 2. My advice: Prepare, get to higher ground, as
storm surge is a mean killer.
I would say that the Yucatan could face a category 4-5
hurricane and then Dean should enter the
bay of campeche.
Dean could be a very dangerous hurricane for the
western gulf of mexico. I'd say mexico
and the western GOM could be dealing with a
very dangerous hurricane. If you live in these areas,
you need to prepare Now. Again things can change,
but it appears that there is little to weaken the ridge
which would steer this thing into Mexico and then
the Western GOM/Mexico needs to be on bigtime
alert.

Re: Tropical Storm DEAN: Discussions,Analysis and Imagery
It could very well still do that. However, you must admit that the chances of it doing that are now much, much smaller than 2-3 days ago. Based on the official track, the GOM needs to watch this one closely.Opal storm wrote:How can you narrow it down to 500 miles of coastline when it's over a week away? Given its track trend, and history regarding storms that track this far south, its unusual for it to wind up a Florida hurricane. But you are right. It still doesn't rule out Florida
