Power 106 radio interviews from residents indicates that this storm is much worse than Ivan and Gilbert.

The two main Mexican Tourist airports sked to close by Monday evening....this from the FAA...nothing on when or if Merida will shut down as yet. Jamaica has had to close it's air traffic control center which handles flights to/from the island as well as overhead to/from South America.

Nope. Not in Kingston, not from this storm. No way. It's been weakening all day, and never got that close to shore. It is not nearly big enough or strong enough to produce those kinds of winds in Kingston that far away from the storm center. Jamaica got VERY lucky once again. Thank God.

They showed the 118mph - sustained and 138 gust on the weather channel at 8 PM. I was just flipping by the channel when they had these numbers up. They were talking to Mike Sidell.
