Yep, they should be going today.. Not saying they will find a TD, but enough going on to not cancel the trip

As I posted in the other thread, I believe that the recon will find an intensifying TS. I call this scenarion "Tuck and Run."

The plane left early so is not flying towards 99L.Lets see what they find the same,a TD or a TS.

How long is the flight time to the storm?

I'm guessing they'll find a strong TD very near TS status but I tell ya, in the last half hour the convection has really exploded near the center.

Looks like they'll be there from around 4:30 to 8:30pm ET with a second flight departing at 10:30 and arriving around 1:30am.

With about a thousand miles to fly, about 3 hours.

I would really only be surprised if they didn't find a TD or TS. I expect them to find Gabrielle... but it may still just be a TD. But if there wasn't at least a TD... only then would I be surprised.

Are they flying from Biloxi?

It is about 3 + hours to get to the invest.... yes, they left out of Keesler.

Still flying at 24,000ft right now, they will possibly sample the western convection when they take another loop through the system.

Huh ... 2953N 07138W and still nothing but 15 knot or less NE winds ...

I would have expected the wind to be more northerly at that location.
