Ok, I can't take it any more. NHC can call this a TS all they want, but it's a terribly-sheared swirl of nothing. Here he comes...

:roflmao:

I've been waiting for this basically all day. :P

and FWIW... I'm sorry about my post earlier, it's just that this storm was hyped quite a lot going all the way back to Tuesday and what it turned out to be was a big letdown.

Hey, it did exactly what we wanted it to here. We're going on 7 inches of rain now. Just wish it had gotten further east and helped out more of the state.

I got a total of 6.00 inches of rain on my rain gauge and a minimum pressure of 1012.1 millibars (mine is always a millibar or two high). Apparently, my 6.00 inches is fairly close to being valid:
SPOTTERS AND OFF DUTY WEATHER SERVICE EMPLOYEES IN MOREHEAD
CITY...BEAUFORT AND HARLOWE HAVE REPORTED MEASURING BETWEEN FOUR AND
SIX INCHES OF RAIN SINCE THE EVENT BEGAN.

Associated with what synoptic feature? A High pressure dome?

I dont think what im seeing now even qualifies as a tropical cyclone. There is no convection near the center and it appears the convection is moving SW with a mid/upper feature while the LLC is now a naked swirl near Corolla NC moving NE.

As long as its producing TS winds I imagine NHC will continue to carry this. But I expect all watches and warnings to be lowered shortly.

It seems Gabrielle's time is coming to an end.

They won't put out a vortex message without a closed circulation though?

It looks horrible. It's a toss up now. Even if it still has TS force winds, if there isn't enough convection near the centre for it to be classified a tropical cyclone, I think NHC will still operationally keep going.

WITH A CONTINUATION OF STRONG
SHEAR AND ONLY ABOUT 24 HOURS OF WARM WATER REMAINING IN THE
STORM'S PATH...SOME WEAKENING SEEMS LIKELY AND IS SHOWN IN THE NHC
OFFICIAL FORECAST. THIS FORECAST ASSUMES THAT THE SYSTEM WILL
REDEVELOP THUNDERSTORMS AS IT MOVES OVER THE WARM GULF STREAM AND
MAINTAIN ITS STATUS AS A TROPICAL CYCLONE. HOWEVER...IF CONVECTION
CONTINUES TO BE SO FAR REMOVED FROM THE CENTER...GABRIELLE COULD
LOSE TROPICAL CHARACTERISTICS BEFORE MERGING WITH AN EXTRATROPICAL
LOW IN A FEW DAYS.

No, not quite. This wasn't the last advisory. The next one might be if convection doesn't refire (which is looking more and more likely as you can only barely see the circulation on vapor imagery).
