8:45 am brings 1009mb barometer, partly cloudy skies, temp at 77 and winds at 10 to 15mph. We had only .07 inches of rain overnight.

Radar looking pretty weak as far as rain bands go. I am a lot less confident than last night of any significant amount of rainfall here in New Bern. :(

Hi! I've been a member of this site since before Hurricane Isabel...lurker mainly, but thought I would post observations from my location on the OBX...vacationing in Corolla, just arrived last night. (Yes...first "real" vacation in over a year, and we'll lose a couple of beach days to the storm I guess...just my luck!!!) Anyway...right now (8:52 a.m.) skies are overcast with fast moving clouds and a few breaks of sunshine with blue skies now and then...on shore winds (I would say, just breezy) but you can hear the ocean roaring and we're on the sound side. You could hear the ocean last night, but it wasn't nearly this loud. No rain yet and none overnight that I can tell...it's nice and warm, a little humid, but not terribly sticky like I've noticed sometimes during past hurricanes/TS's.

Anyway...that's the way it is right now. Will post again if something changes dramatically...which I guess it will before too much longer.

Raining really hard now...but just a shower/rain band. Sky got really black to the NE just before the rain started, but sun is shining to the south and rain is beginning to taper off as I type.

light rain here at emerald ise--some breaks in the clouds--wind is a non factor--had worse weather in a thunder storm--had some rain early in the morning--really a big non event.

I'm glad that you are getting the rain from Gabrielle and she's not a dangerous storm.

I was hoping to get some rain from her here. It's been over 2 weeks since the last measurable precipitation when we received a whopping 2.5".

Dry as a bone with just light (5 mph) N breeze here - not a cloud in our sky.

I am just south of you, but getting a bit less rain (we are just over an inch since this morning). But coming down really good now. We had a top gust (from my wind meter, which is not 100% accurate) of 48 mph, but lots of solid winds in the 40 mph range (maybe not sustained for a full minute, but at least a good 30 seconds). Not bad, but certainly not "playing outside weather" like we did this morning).
