The first mission will be a upper enviroment one and that goes around 1:30 PM on wednesday.An Airforce plane will go to 93L on thursday afternoon around 2 PM EDT.

The system could be over FL by then, won't they cancel at that point?

The idea is that by Thursday it'll already have crossed Florida and moved into the GOM. But they'll adjust the flights as necessary.

I think they can continue upper air flights over Florida, but cant do the lower flights.

no need for flight to get low level readings... you can get those from all the ground stations.
I think it will be VERY unlikely recon will go today.

There are no low-level flights scheduled for today, only an NOAA investigative flight at 45,000 ft.

They are flying at the moment, dropping sondes. No HDOB.
Mission is called NOAA9 01IIA SURVEILLANCE.

FOR THE NORTH ATLANTIC...CARIBBEAN SEA AND THE GULF OF MEXICO...

SURFACE OBSERVATIONS INDICATE THAT A WEAK LOW PRESSURE AREA HAS
FORMED IN THE EASTERN GULF OF MEXICO IN ASSOCIATION WITH AN
UPPER-LEVEL LOW. SHOWER ACTIVITY WITH THIS NON-TROPICAL SYSTEM
REMAINS LIMITED AND DISORGANIZED. HOWEVER...THIS SYSTEM HAS THE
POTENTIAL TO ACQUIRE SUBTROPICAL CHARACTERISTICS LATER TODAY OR
TOMORROW AS IT MOVES WEST-NORTHWESTWARD OVER THE WARM WATERS OF THE
GULF OF MEXICO. AN AIR FORCE RESERVE UNIT RECONNAISSANCE AIRCRAFT
IS SCHEDULED TO MONITOR THE SYSTEM THIS AFTERNOON.
ALL INTERESTS
ALONG THE NORTHERN GULF COAST SHOULD MONITOR THE PROGRESS OF THIS
