That's about 85 mph (Cat 1) - is that 1-min sustained, 10-min average or gusts?

Morning all. Had some well needed rest and will be getting ready to move out to the NE coast over the next few hours. Good luck up there Stu. Thanks everyone for posting various images of the storm, they're great to luck it.

Not sure when my next update will be....

I've been told by a girl from Taiwan and a scientist at HRD that the winds do not cause significant problems there. They simply do not build like we do in the States. If they did, their country would be nothing but rubble considering how frequently they get hit by cat 3-5 storms

It doesn't actually say if it is sustained or gusts but I'm guessing it is sustained. This is a Japanese station so it would be ten min.

That would be a solid Cat 2-3 most likely if that is 10-min...

I believe that in the major metropolitan areas, but there are quite a few poorer areas which don't have sturdy structures, but everyone is experienced with dealing with typhoons as they get hit pretty much every year, so they know not to fool around when they get the warnings.

Actually I think it would be more like 110-120 mph (Cat 3), as that I believe is 10-minute sustained winds...
