Light showers and a little breezy here in East Houston. BORING. But at least it is taking away the heat, but adding to the humidity.

I can attest to the humidity! Typical tropical showers - pours and then suddenly stops, and then pours again.

OK, based on sustained 20 knot winds on immediate coast of extreme SE Texas and SW Louisiana, and radar presentation, and assuming there has to be a 25 knot wind somewhere closer to the center, I unofficially declare this Tropical Depression #No-Number L.

I have unofficially decided not to issue warnings, for High Island to Cameron, because I doubt noplace will see a sustained gale force wind when this reaches the coast. That, and I can't issue warnings anyhow. (Well, "light a match" warnings for people entering restrooms is different).

Maybe NHC will upgrade this after the season is over, maybe they won't. But they will not upgrade it the same day they cancelled recon on it.

BTW, 4 days in a row of canx invest missions on the same system, has to be a new record.

I just recieved my first band of light, misty showers here in north Houston. Looking at the radar though, it appears that heavier cells could be in the forecast for later tonight.

Leaving early today, I'll see if I notice any breeze at all with the flags.

Weird, during Humberto, it was quite breezy in the morning, but when it was making its closest pass, relative, to my part of town, the breeze wasn't that strong at all.

It has clouded up.

OK, now I'm leaving

Trend at Sabine Pass is in the right direction for fans of fresh breezes.

Some of the squalls east of town producing some decent winds according to doppler. Looks like the precip is wrapping nicely around the center, although it's not much. Still, IMO this should be classified. I've seen a lot worse looking TDs than this.

It's windier at my house than it ever was during Humberto.

Landfall of undesignated entity to be in Texas. It's all good as the center was going to make it to Texas. All I'm going to say is there have been hurricane threats that brought me far less than Invest 90L. I'm sure I'm not the only one. Dry Air wins, but regardless of whether it's ever classified in the post-season or not, it owned many other depressions and tropical storms (Hermine '98 specifically comes to mind).

Based on the radar trends, it looks like metro Houston will see more out of this than they saw with Humberto.

satellite-infrared presentation looks terribly ragged and non convective. There are warm top-clouds, no organization, neither banding. Just a miracle can put this thing at TD status.

center looks to have gained more of a W/WNW motion recently and will likely be more of a rain/breeze threat to Houston than originally thought an hour or two ago...

...Shouldn't be anything too serious, but a few places may pick up a couple of inches of rain and wind gusts over 20-30mph will be common in the stronger bands.

I remember before Humberto formed, the Invest label was dropped and written off. It turned out formed and became a hurricane. I will still keep an eye on 90L until it makes landfall. However, I don't expect much out of 90L.

Invest 90L might bring me some rain tomorrow into Sunday. Bring it.

I dont think, any place will get "a couple of inches", its not a wet system and there is a lot of dry air in the region. The weekend will not be a washout.

Tells you how painful this system has been to watch, when it results in an eventual "breeze" threat... :P

decent looking squall forming over eastern Harris and Montgomery counties ATM. It looks to be pushing west rapidly and could produce a quick burst of heavy rains and gusty winds. Based on the slight bowing effect it seems to have, gusts over 40mph would not surprise me from this squall...

Almost. Doppler radar still puts the center just offshore, but landfall will be occuring within the hour.

I'll forget to check, but what are odds in post season review NHC will upgrade this to a TD? I can understand point of not upgrading a system 3 or 4 hours before landfall, when it will never cause sustained gale force winds, but technically, IMHO, this is a TD.

Just checked radar again, that rainband should be visible out the front door...
