GOES-15 releases first image

Looks nitid the first image of this new sattelite.

GOES-15, launched on March 4, 2010, from Cape Canaveral, Fla., joins three other NOAA operational GOES spacecraft that help the agency's forecasters track life-threatening weather – from tornadoes, floods and hurricanes -- and solar activity that can impact the satellite-based electronics and communications industry.

It looks better as a full disk image but is the GOES-15 better than the previous satellites? I mean other aspects other than resolution.

Nice picture. I believe GOES-15 is the last of the latest GOES. The GOES-R series will double the resolution and be able to take images at a much faster rate, like one every 30 seconds for a particular storm. The R series bird won't be operational until at least 2017.......MGC
