no way no how IMO the LLC was clearly visible at 64 west a few hours ago moving West fast, it died

what ever is under that blob would be an MLC

and since it's SE of the ULL it will be in a rather poor enviornment unless it moves north or drifts at 2 mph or less

Well we're both wrong I think.

Loop:

IR2 without any crappy enhancement. You can see the LLC remains 65W 21N or there about. This would not be showing an MLC. The LLC moved a bit south in the loop.

In that loop the LLC seems as if it is being drawn back into the convection or the convection is catching up to the LLC

I just reviewed that IR2 sat loop without the garbage resolution on it...I think the LLC did rush out ahead of the convection and then I think it ducked back under the convection again.

All I have to say is what a strange season this has been so far...

Do you think it's possible that Hanna will end up being a bigger story than Gustav?

Doubtful...Unless Hanna was to make landfall at Government Cut as a Cat 5 and hit downtown Miami. Then she would get as much press as Sarah Palin today! But seriously, with the anniversary of Katrina and now NOLA is being evacuated again...I think Gustav will take the national headlines...

It not something we should entertain talking about, there's nothing productive in such a conversation. Relax, observe, see what happens.

A major cane in downtown Miami will allways be the worst, but a Cat 3/4 going into the Keys will be very bad also. What's interesting is in 5 days the NHC has Hanna as a TS and Accuweather and Derek have Hanna as a cane.

I guess there isn't much difference between a strong tropical storm and a weak hurricane

Just interesting that NHC is taking their time with the disco and updated graphics for Hanna, though the main advisory was up 10-15 mins ago.

Also it's pretty windy here in Kendall, FL too (South Dadeish)

(from the 11 PM advisory)
THE CENTER OF HANNA IS
FORECAST TO PASS WELL NORTH OF THE VIRGIN ISLANDS AND PUERTO RICO
TONIGHT AND SATURDAY...AND IS EXPECTED TO APPROACH THE SOUTHEASTERN
BAHAMAS FROM THE NORTHEAST ON SUNDAY.

I know I am being picky but if it approaches from the Northeast would it not be moving towards the Southwest?

Tommorow should help tell us where this should end up. The 2 upcoming model runs will have new info added to it, and we will see what happens with the ULL.

The NHC really seems to be downplaying the potential of this storm. I hope they are correct

Could be....I think Gustav is going to hit Louisiana in a sparsely populated area, similar to Andrew.

To me, the idea that Hanna doesn't seem to be gaining much latitude would also argue against a S. FL hit......which is odd, because it's usually the other way around - if they aren't gaining much latitude it usually argues FOR a S. FL hit, but not this time!
