there is one interesting thing to note on both IR and radar.. that the convection is wrapping around the south side. watch for the center to be pulled into it or the convection build up to it over night..

I think it was Frances in 1998, that as just a tropical storm, caused some storm surge damage flooding in Galveston and Kemah areas. And even a tropical storm can have hurricane force wind gusts. And a tree branch hitting you can ruin the day.

I've seen enough people on TV after the fact who ignored evac orders who said they'd never do that again, that the course of least regret is following NHC and local NWS and public safety/EMS advisories and orders.

I heard another rule of thumb, repeated after Dolly, always add a Saffir-Simpson category, at least, to official NHC forecast as another course of least regret. If they predict a Cat 1, prepare as if you'd expect at least Cat 2 conditions.

I remember Frances in 1998. A lot of rain for sure. Also, it was a large tropical storm. Anytime, NHC predicts a Category 1 hurricane, I know it will be a Category 2 hurricane or so forth. I would not be surprised if Edouard does become a Category 2 hurricane.

I wonder if Edouard can undergo RI later tonight because I remember Katrina and Wilma undergoing RI at night.

They took away the tropical storm force winds in our local forecast and brought them from 65mph to 25mph. :(

No one is putting lil Eddy down. He looks like he's shaping up to be a little but nasty booger.

Bay City, TX is central Texas. The models have shifted SLIGHTLY east, therefore distancing Duddy from the area of expected landfalll.

THe center is very evident here as the convection begins to wrap around to the south side..

It is getting more circular I notice. Also, since it is smaller, it could intensify even faster.

I'll be interested in the results when I wake u around 6 a.m. I have to work in the morning! Otherwise I would spend countless hours watching Eddy floating around in the G.O.M.

Looking at this radar loop out of N.O. it sure "looks" like Eddie is going to come a lot closer to the LA. coast then I anticipated.

One more shift right and Galveston may only see 25mph winds...
