there was a thread about unusual cyclones. I think Fay is going to add one to that list.

Looking at GRlevel3...the "center of the eye" is definitely closer to the coast than it was an hour ago

Actually cpdaman, that is where she is located, where that tiny COC is NE of Cape Canaveral. The radars have very poor resolution, and make it seem like she has a huge eye, but the real rotation point is where you saw it. Really not moving much, but convection is on the increase and winds in Palm Bay are picking up again. If this moves to the west, I fear we will get another soaking here!

Fay might be moving but what is really happening is her "center" is expanding. If you watch the convection around it you can clearly see that the convection around it is lopsided in some places and then forms here and there. It is moving some but not as much as you think.

Not moving yet, but east-west elongation of the 'eye' suggests she's going to start moving westerly pretty soon.

exactly. you can see the western side of the storm hasnt moved at all. those storm are still moving directly north to south in a circular motion and not expanding westward. The eyewall has elongated westward but not actually moved. I do think it is indicating a move westward eventually though.

I'd surely eat crow if Fay intensified a second time over northern Florida after the next landfall...

Does anyone have any updated storm totals for rainfall in the Melbourne and area just north of Melbourne? Is that Cape Canaveral that has been under the southern eyewall for a while now? Is there anyone still online from that area? Would be interested to hear if it's as bad as it looks on radar re rain/flooding.

I'm convinced right now that Fay is moving WEST... you can finally see the back end (east side) of the center now moving along with the west ....

http://radar.weather.gov/ridge/radar.ph ... 1&loop=yes

it might only be a temporary wobble to the west or something more.. who knows

Just heard on the news the models are showing possible 10 to 15 inches of rain from Fay in NW Florida and South Alabama

I don't really see that because it will be picking up speed and not just sit there but we shall see.

About a third of her eye is already over land. That being said, convection is deepening all around and her eye is still very well defined. Maybe Fay needs a land AND water at the same time to strengthen.

Also, I think her track will have to be moved a little more south. A west movement is very evident on radar.

We got 14 inches of rain here when Fay moved across the state.

Good God, shows Fay stalling again South of the NGOM, the rain fall totals would be ridiculous! , Showing a stronger ridge expanding westward in the run, send her slightly south of due west and further west in this run
