Agreed... doesn't seem to be a slot of dark air, this is the piece that has circulated from the northwest where it previously was cut off

Gas stations are closing every hour, posting out of gas signs and limiting gasoline to only 10 gallons per customer. Ten gallons of gasoline will not get my family home when the all clear is given. The few stations that are limiting the quantity are outrageous. When there is simply NO gas you cannot obtain it for love or money. So, here I sit watching my home and city being pounded and fearful that we won't make it back.

At this point many of us are so tempted to get as close to home as possible before gas runs completely out or reaches $5 gallon.

honestly, the gas situation right now is NOT dire. Im going to keep repeating that because its causing unecessary panic. in chalmette/NO area, it WAS that dire during Gustav, but things are improving. The only reason for shortages right now is because people are panicking. please tell people to just calm down because there are several racks and refineries operating and us gasoline transport companies are doing the best we can to keep it going.

Per Gulf Coast Pundit blog, part of Hilton in Clear Lake has collapsed. Very unofficial, no link.

It's true, I saw it on TWC.

Could you believe that??? There are parts of it all over! Docks are coming apart and when the worst of the surge comes through, all that flotsam will be like battering rams.

If you didn't evacuate, it may have been you and your family's life.

You'll make it back. It's better you are out of harm's way than riding this thing out...gas will be back in the stations soon.

Doppler radar imagery indicates a strong squall band will be moving onshore from locations near High Island to Galveston Island through 8:30PM CDT. This band will likely produce strong wind gusts of 65 to 80 mph along the immediate coast and bays.

(This is not an official product, but is based on the latest radar imagery and surface observations.)

Just went out and took an observation from 10 miles west of Galveston Bay in SE Houston. Only 25 kts and very light rain off and on. When it hits it's going to come all at once, it appears.

Tides still around 8 feet around Galveston but there is now near total darkness in the city as you'd expect.

Yes, and I can't figure out what happened. Seems like maybe our hosting site had a problem.

Definitely not all of Texas will be affected.

I deeply apologize for my selfish comment-I overlooked the word GULF-thanks for the clarification.......trying times......
