Bad bands approaching coast but your observation makes me wonder as to whether wind radii are translating to surface over land....you should be just about at 50 kt radii.

ESTIMATED MINIMUM CENTRAL PRESSURE 955 MB
MAX SUSTAINED WINDS 90 KT WITH GUSTS TO 110 KT.
64 KT.......105NE 90SE 50SW 60NW.
50 KT.......150NE 150SE 75SW 90NW.
34 KT.......240NE 200SE 150SW 170NW.

It's from land friction. This always happens, winds are not as high over land as on water.

Impossible to connect to the S2K server for some minutes. Timeout error.

I can see many had the same problem because looking at the members and visitors on line (bottom of the board) suddenly was half of what it was before

Dry slot seems to be shrinking again.

I SWEAR that TWC is looking to lose a Met or two. Abrams, Bettes and Cantore are all in and around Galveston.

They were reporting that people calling for help cannot and will not receive any until tomorrow because emergency services can't get to them now with the storm upon them. I'm having flashbacks of Katrina and NO.

It's on Pelican Island. It'll go under since Pelican Is. is nothing more than dredge deposits stacked up over the past 100 years.

I posted this around 4 today and it helped for awhile....

Can i suggest something....when you're making a post and you hit submit and it shows that others have made a post during the time you were talking...if they've said the same thing you typed out...don't hit submit. I've just read the past 10 pages which could be condensed down to 5 without people posting the same thing.

If you want to chat like you've been doing in this thread, go to the chatroom. Y'all are making it ridiculously hard to find any decent information in this thread.

Ike closing in on Galveston now, some really heavy convection just south of the bay, won't be long before hurricane force gusts come along near the coastline, probably just offshore at the moment.
