Once Gustav weakens I think Hanna will strengthen more rapidly as the northerly shear (Gustav's outflow) weakens. It would not surprise me to see Hurricane Hanna in 36-48 hours.

Indeed

Look at this satellite that shows how outflow from Gustav is running straight into Hanna, and keeping it from intensifying much.

Gustav is also moving West faster than Hanna, and you're right, it will weaken inland.

I think even 50kts may be a touch on the low side but without recon 50kts is about as high as they can go thanks to that ship report of 48kts.

Well I'm on the other side of the bridge, if you know what I mean. To windy for tennis, seems like a good morning to take in 9 holes at the club.

Hanna sure does look like she is moving W faster than 2 mph.

wobble wars are more important with this one because, as the 5 a.m. NHC discussion notes, even a small deviation in track to the W means the FL east coast gets raked on Hanna's way up to GA/SC/NC.

First thoughts to folks in path of Gustav.

With 3 models showing a near Jacksonville hit of a cane this week (GFLD, NGP and GFS). GFLD 06 run shows 110 kts sept 5th am hit. I am watching Hanna closely.

Just curious, and I realize that CONUS hit looks like a sure thing, but what are we hoping for to recurve or at least weaken Hanna?

And we don't need her rain either.

It looks like S FL or at least anyone south of Melbourne won't have to worry about Hanna unless the synoptics change or the high building will be stronger than expected.I'm watching this but I'm not as stressed now as I was days ago when it was more of a threat to S FL.

The lake is already above average. Tomorrow water management will get together and probably pour some water out of the lake. Here we go again.

I'm still under stress because she keeps moving west, which keeps making the possiblity for a SE/ SF hit higher...

I wouldn't dare think that we in SoFLa are quite out of the picture yet.
