Ike is a lot further south in Latitude than Andrew was in latitude.
Perhaps they are talking vaguely about a big storm moving somewhat toward the west?
Andrew tracked towards LA after exiting Florida.

Whatever the reasoning, if Dade County was watching that's enough to put some in a panic!

Re: ATL IKE: Category 2 - Discussion
I'm suprised they are still toting the line about it being a 2. Isn't it a 3 now based on Recon? -or maybe all those math posts just confused me.

When "judgement day" comes, the only ones held responsible is the NHC.

DH I agree. I was just stating my suprise over that very bold statement.

channel 10 miami is the only media i would pay attention too and only because max mayfield works there, the other stations were horrible with fay
i could easily start my own thread with all the untrue information distributed by local media, its rather pathetic

the "mysterious" player "ULL" the achillees heal of models appears to be influencing IKE even more in the next 12 hours
before everyone criticizes the best mets at the Nhc (downgrading ike) perhaps they realize the ull is going to be a rather large thorn in the side of ike for a while
from recon VDM
EYE OPEN W-SW
TURBULENT NW QUAD DRY AIR INTRUSION
looks like dry air making push southwest faster than ike is moving
two WV shows this clearly
http://adds.aviationweather.gov/satelli ... g&itype=wv
http://www.nwhhc.com/satellite.html
my question is will this slow ike down as well.......allowing the weakness to lift out of get further east?

GFS latching onto recurve that GFDL could already be ahead of it on.
I know the set-up is completely different, however I can't help but too remember Charleys right hook after Cuba....Not to mention all the talk about Donna over the past few days. I'm staying on my toes just in case!

Past experience has shown when a strip of dry air gets initially pulled into the rotation and makes it to the center, there is a wobble that occurs as the storm's eye seems to "avoid" it and head more to the north momentarily as if the eye gets scared when the dry air is at the south of the eye and just about to make its way towards the center.
The once it gets real close to center, it wobbles more southerly.
IF this intrusion pans out, I'm sur ethe wobble watchers are going to be freaking out!

Has Ike slowed down a bit because he should have been past the first NHC point already??
