Those coordinates on the VDM have to be wrong. That's puts it right of the coast of the Yucatan.

We will for sure have a TS Warning for the Caymen Islands (kinda late, the convection is right over them  ). Wonder if we will have anything else.

Totally agree. A hazard guess says somewhere near 16.7N - 83-84W (oops! No-brainer gaff edit)

Don't sweat it. The ULL distortion should yield and a center will show tonight.

Off for a bike ride in the hot sun and drenching humidity (feels tropical here).

I would not be surprised if sometime today they put up warnings for the Yucatan and western Cuba.

I am not a big fan of TWC anymore either, but don't knock Dr. Lyons. He is very smart and a very good tropics guy. He is just giving the latest looks from the model runs!

Can we expect a big shift in the models being that the center has initialized further north than the models thought?

Looking at the visible loops I can pick out the LLC. It is near 18N 84W. It is southwest of most of the convection - almost exposed - but I can clearly pick it out.

TWC isn't allowed to deviate from the "official" forecast so their forecasts are ancient. I am sure they are just as aware of the recent changes but can't jump ahead of the nhc but we can. That is why we are here. I mean anyone with an interest in weather can clearly see the exposed but closed llc. I've been an avid weather ethusiast but I can't read wind charts or buoy reports or even some of the basics of weather. But I can read the play by play satellite images and all of the players in the field that will have an impact of a system. My point? We don't have to rely on twc or nhc we can rely on the conditions that are telling us minute by minute what is happening via satellite images and other less complicated factors. Throw st2k's expert mets and unofficial experts we can know what's going to happen before the nhc puts out their final word. NHC is the final authority yes but many times we know what they are going to say before they say it. Like right now. We see the llc we know the reports of the winds speeds it will get upgraded. Now I will admit I like a pro met to confirm what I figured out for myself as they obviously know a whole lot more about the weather than I do.

Yep you really see it spinning. This make me feel better since its not further N under the deep convection. If it was under the deep convection the models would move more N.
