I have a satellite underlay, but you will see there are a few missing 'tiles'.
I also included the NHC forecast track.
Unfortunately, the map doesn't show the outline of Cuba.

(the weird zooming will disappear shortly, I was playing with it and forgot to turn the ftp upload off)
Nice job, Orion. What is your take on the movement?

anyone who looks at that overlay and doesn't think fay is right of forecast points needs to see a doctor immediatley or go to sleep.

also note her current motion would have less relative shear, pretty favorable conditions (cept for land)
Fay seems to be moving a bit faster than first expected too. She might already be making landfall by late tomorrow if this speed continues.

Well, I'm off to turn-in for tonight. Thankfully my department's training session was cancelled for tomorrow so I'll be up bright and early to continue tracking Fay.

Rest well, prepare accordingly.

I wonder how the NHC is going to do the 2 AM advisory.

The plane won't get there in time, I don't think

GFDL and HWRF runs should be coming in soon. Should be interesting.

That is very cool! ...Would it be easy or hard to use a different satellite underlay?

I thought that the AF planes could not go inland Cuba, or did that change?

Why are the satellite images not updating since 0415z?

Well, I just got in shortly and trying to get caught up some before heading to bed. I was just looking at the GFS and all I can say about that is - WOW! I do think we will see the track shift a little east again... how much depends when/where she makes it across Cuba. I think it is making the more northward turn and at this time, would say SFL needs to pay very close attention.

Cuban airspace is opened for this reason only...to track storms

The back side of whatever's left of the eyewall will be clearing the worst terrain near Pico San Juan within half an hour.

It peaks at 3 or 4 hours long by the fall equinox. It will continue to get longer until then.

I don't think that was an eyewall. The NHC should locate the actual center soon.
