The pressure is not 977 mb. That would be a category 2 hurricane.

Recon isn't even to the storm yet.

He probably meant '997' and misspoke.

Pressure at Key West continues to slowly drop. Wind shift to the north, meaning Key West is on the right side of the center.

We may never see this again, Key West seems to be in the middle of a re-organizing storm.

David Bernard from CBS 4 Miami (they also have an online stream) just got a report from aircraft reconnaissance of 977 millibars and 75 knots!
He said though that those were probably not surface data but flight level observations.

He had a really shocked expression when reading the data! He then said he needed to make a ton of calls to confirm....

Radar doesnt look quite as impressive right now, but im not surprised, everyday this is when Fay always looks weakest, and it gets its act together early morning, but will it run out of time?

Yep radar seems to be suggesting a NE, maybe even ENE track over the last few hours, how interesting this will be to watch over the next few hours to see if this motion continues, if it does then Irene 99 is looking a great comprasion.

Also wouldn't surprise if a formative eyewall is present with this system.

No, but it is likely that it is slowly intensifying

I doubt that would happen without serious surface responses in the form of a bursting wrapped eye and other necessary features for 977. If that is true I"M PACKIN!!!

The recon report from Channel 4 is probably not true. The plane is nowhere near the center yet. Also people need to look at base reflectively on the radar. Composite sometimes shows stuff that isn't falling.

You guys also post too much. I keep getting stopped from posting, because 3 or 4 people have posted before me.
