If he didn't have confirmation, why the hell did he say it on air? The media baffle me at times.

This is what happens when you have so much media coverage. False info gets put out for ratings.

Dave Bernard on camera again....says center doing a bit of a loop but northward movement should continue. He says if storm continues on north path, southeast fl will see improvement late tuesday...with worst from overnight until first half of tomorrow. He said storm may be changing significantly structurally which would change things. No mention of pressure reading.

Wouldn't fancy being any of the forecasters for this one. She seems to be just shuddering and building up strength before the decision's made as to where she's going. Looks like lots of rain is a given but I wish she'd make her move soon.

The 977mb surely cannot be right, she'd look far better than this and the ground obs would back this up - it has to be wrong.

I would stop listening to your "local mets" (many of whom do not even display verifiable, certified meteorological degrees) and only post information from reliable news sources such as Max Mayfield, NHC, etc.

South Florida media is chaotic at times...

That's just mindboogling to me. :double: If that's true, then it will upgraded to a Cat. 2 hurricane on the next update, right?

Please read the posts of the more experienced on this site. This is not a 977 Cat 2. The OCM obviously made a mistake..that HE SHOULD HAVE KNOWN WAS A MISTAKE...because the radar signature does not even come close to suggesting that type of deepening. Any met of any caliber would have known it was a mistake.

Sat with latest observations:

Image

And I mis-spoke before. Key West now has North winds meaning the center is to the East.

Once again here are the Key West observations

Image

Pressure is now on the rise. And the winds are shifting ... I give up. :)

And before the sun sets be sure to check out the live webcam:

Jim Cantori is the only person on TV who is talking about this eastward motion, and admitting that he does not know what is going on.

Frank2, we need you...

Please discard the 977 mb report and any future statements from the aforementioned local met. Thanks.

Looking at radar, the little swirl that made it look like it was going east is not the center, the actual center looks to be where the NHC put it. Maybe...lol

Also, can a pro met comment on the radar not looking as good as earlier.

Talk about confusion at its best. I hope that 977 doesn't verify, he had to of been missreading something. I can't think it would make that big of a drop in that less of time and how it doesn't even have an eye yet.

If that could be proved, people need to be fired or maybe even charged, because it clearly could be dangerous.

Agreed. Most OCM's haven't a clue what they are talking about. They are glorified broadcasters with a couple of met classes to get their seal of approval from AMS.

Don't EVER place too much stock in what an OCM says unless you KNOW they KNOW their stuff. Most of the time...its smoke and mirrors.

Just for some perspective, 21mb in two hours would be more (maybe the same) as what Wilma did at peak intensification. If this guy had any logic, he would know that 977 couldn't possibly be true.

just visit nbc6.net and cbs4.com

google searching for miami news stations would also help

local10.com might also be really good, since Max Mayfield works for them during hurricane weather coverage.
