Rain stopped in Jupiter for a moment and all of a sudden the wind has picked up for the first time. Tons of rain today but no wind. Now the palm trees are blowing and I can see stars and the moonlight for a moment. Low level clouds with almost a redish tint are flying off to the west very fast. This small taste of tropical weather reminds me of why I love them canes so much! Mother Nature can be awesome!

You are right, bgator. Some haven't been hit, but, some have...I'd give my right arm to have my parent's former home back, along with all of our family momentos that floated away with Katrina. At least I didn't lose my parents and they were able to bulldoze their home and build another one. Some weren't as fortunate.

Anyone looking at this? I really do believe that low that was in the Northern Rockies/Plains 5 days ago is becoming part of the reason this may head W. eventually... I thought that might be the case, but not exactly like this. Seems the ULL is actually re-enforcing the westerly steering component at this point. I throw my hands up and just watch in awe.

To those in Florida tonight... enjoy the storm! This should be interesting in the coming hours.

For those of you who don't have work or school tomorrow... really enjoy this storm! I unfortunately have work in the morning so I'll let you all have the fun.

Good night and stay safe. If the a/c goes out open a few windows!

Exactly, you have to look on the bright side of things, or life will suck.
I lost half my home in Andrew, but i got a brand new room out of it, and a new baby sister (long story).
AS bad as things get you always need to try to find the good in it.

Nothing against a perfectly formed major in the middle of the ocean, but the unpredictability and arguing over centers and the such, why it is interesting.

Ed, your silly......

BTW- TX's TC season doesnt end until the westerlies kick in..... :D

Not kididng about a model showing Fay in the Central Gulf

US water vapor loop- guess which state is in the Westerlies. Two cold fronts in a week already. Not a normal August pattern, for sure.

I was kidding Ed, I saw the GFS run and now the NAM run.....0z GFS running right now........wouldnt call them cold fronts as they did nothing but dry out the air and let it get hotter. Patterns will change as Dr Masters suggested in his blog a few days ago. 05 ridge set-up.....Now that is not fall.... :D

IMHO the radar presentation looks a lot better than 3 hours ago, when it just looked rather like a single curving band. There seems to be a circular rain shield now north of the center.

I'm not sure the tropical environment is all that good. I'm not sure Fay would have done all that much better if it stayed over water the whole time.

Well guys .. I'm going to keep an eye open of course, but as far as I'm concerned, FAY is an overhyped dud! Not overhyped on this forum but certainly by the media. Almost all of the gas stations were out of gas on my way home tonight. Ridiculous. Aside from the obvious circular rotation, I've seen worse conditions in some of the heavy thunderstorms that roll through almost daily!

I'm going to call it a night. I'll leave the radars updating all night, and the weather radio is on (but it's on 24/7/365).

You guys can stay up and watch the wobbles, I'm going to bed. Have fun.

And way out in the Atlantic mother nature heard him and swirled a little swirl to send his way...

RI? with it that close to land? no sure I would go that far. Maybe a cat 1 before the second actual landfall.

Not showing a big pressure drop yet.

Naples:

Looks Naples bound to me. Also note how the wind has shifted to be a tad more north, a sign Fay is SE of Naples and moving further east.

had to edit that 3 times to get it right ... maybe.
