since you have it narrowed down to a 3 hour time period for landfall can you let me know if it will hit broward, dade or palm beach so i can prepare accordingly, thanks
No need to be a jerk. I'm just going by the map on weather underground. I'll post it in a second if you'd like.

Yeah, I'm surprised that there seems to be such a lax consensus on this board as to it missing Florida. Seems premature to make that forecast, to say the least. Yeah, I suppose it could recurve east of Florida - wouldn't be the first time - but it could also recurve right over Florida.

There's only been 3 Cat 5 landfalling Cyclones. I'll take those odds.

glad you are enjoying his rapid development.
some of us in harms way would rather it dissipate.
As it stands now...I may be looking at a CAT 4 for either my location, or more urgently, my mother who lives out on a barrier island.
I too get excited over theses Canes..weather is in my blood...but lets not forget the terrible toll they exact.
It is my sincerest hope that Ike spins up to CAT 5 to satisfy the watchers and fishes out...
I dont know where your location is, but considering there are barrier islands from the Keys to Cape Cod that could be anywhere. Trufully everyone from Bermuda to the GOM may be looking at a storm of any size (Ike in this case) to their location or that of their loved ones
I think the excitment on the boards you are seeing is in direct relation to the science and the intrest behind these phenominae... Nobody is by any means -removed- a major storm anywhere at this point. I think the discussion is focusing on comparasion of this storm to other history makers in the past.
fair enough.
mom is in vero beach. for the record.

Ike sure is turning into a donut.

so do you think Ike might run into hanna or is she lifting out and ike won't come in contact with her?

Does anyone else not see this thing smack dead on into Hanna. It blows me away. I know the fujiwara effect exists but is bases of gravitational bodies. If one body is moving at Haul ass 10 west and the other body is moving at a skip north west Fujiwara can forget it. Ain't going to happen. Does anyone else not see this.
Ike gonna Bi-0tch slap Hanna, and get messed up in the process. Its like a 90 pound black belt fighting a 300 lb street guy. sure the black belt is gonna win. but it ain't gonna be pretty!

if it hits we know the three hour time period so at least that much is settled..

It wasn't a prediction buddy. I see the weather underground map that shows a cat 4 in the central bahamas Monday at 2 pm. I'm a little concerned. Aren't you?

Hurricane Ike will now further pump an already
strengthening ridge to its north, and that strength
is indicated by the rate at which that ridge is steering
Hurricane Ike and now Tropical Storm Hanna. The synoptics
are very concerning right now. At this rate of intensification, this
may rival Isabel or Floyd in strength, or hit at least category 4 and
possibly category 5 for a period of time. The high forward
speed is an indicator of a strengthening ridge. East coasters
check your hurricane plans.
Paths: Cuba to Florida Keys to North Carolina) trackwise.
That ridge is STRONG, and I do not see a recurvature with this one.
This does remind me of Hurricane Isabel/Floyd (that is my current gut feeling on
track perhaps...)- Too early to tell, still could do a Frances...

Wow, Ike is now a major hurricane. Quite impressive! It would not surprise me if it becomes a Category 4 or 5 hurricane.
