There was never "Rapid intensification."

Recon was in there at just the right time to sample the pressure falls of a developing system.

I would say Rapid Organization has paused attm.

MAXIMUM SUSTAINED WINDS ARE NEAR 50 MPH...85 KM/HR...WITH HIGHER
GUSTS. SOME ADDITIONAL STRENGTHENING IS FORECAST DURING THE NEXT 24
HOURS...AND EDOUARD COULD BE NEARING HURRICANE STRENGTH BEFORE
LANDFALL.

Mid level shear is likely the culprit this evening.. watch for that to relax tonight

OT: That large TUTT is quite impressive (and even beautiful) NNE of the Leewards...

Quite possibly Aric, also if the shear eases down then the dry air won't get so far and therefore that problem will also reduce to some extent as well. Shouldn't really see too many changes in the next 12hrs IMO its after that time frame that things become more favorable from the looks of things.

This radar loop is even showing that it is becoming exposed, keeping in mind that its tilted from NW to SE and we are seeing the circulation here at 10,000ft or so. There is nothing convective wise over much of the apparent center.......

Looks a mess... I'm seriously doubting this reaches Cat 1 let alone staying a TS.

Once the shear and dry air lets up, Edouard will probably get going again.

I would say Rapid Organization has paused attm.

Again...

IMO there was never "Rapid organization."

And how would a RI cycle just "pause."

That makes no sense.

your killing me....I do not see a mess....its still organizing. Did you expect it to organize to a cat 1 in 3 hours?

What I am seeing is a organizing system with the LLC becoming more aligned with its MLC.....shear looks to be dropping off some....

Looks like an organizing typical Gulf storm to me. I think the earlier recon hit made it seem like this storm was deeping rapidly when they probably didn't fix it right on the first pass.

I'm not so sure... You can see curved banding developing on the northern part of the system, that wasn't very present during the day. I wonder if we won't wake up to a much better organized system.
