Two invests, no waiting.

May be behind 99L as far as organization, but seems to be in a better environment, as seen on water vapor loop, and is in a more potentially dangerous position for the Caribbean.

I have no opinions yet on development chances or likely path.

I don't know where he got it, but Ohio State twister site already has first runs of SHIPS and BAMs, and those runs say this has potential to affect Caribbean.

TROPICAL WEATHER OUTLOOK
NWS TPC/NATIONAL HURRICANE CENTER MIAMI FL
800 AM EDT SAT AUG 2 2008

FOR THE NORTH ATLANTIC...CARIBBEAN SEA AND THE GULF OF MEXICO...

THE AREA OF LOW PRESSURE OVER THE ATLANTIC LOCATED ABOUT ABOUT 1250
MILES EAST OF THE NORTHERN LEEWARD ISLANDS IS MOVING WESTWARD ABOUT
15 TO 20 MPH. SHOWER ACTIVITY HAS INCREASED SINCE YESTERDAY AND
SLOW DEVELOPMENT IS POSSIBLE DURING THE NEXT DAY OR TWO BEFORE THE
SYSTEM ENCOUNTERS UNFAVORABLE UPPER-LEVEL WINDS.

:rarrow: A SMALL AREA OF DISTURBED WEATHER ASSOCIATED WITH A TROPICAL WAVE
HAS DEVELOPED ABOUT 250 MILES SOUTHWEST OF THE CAPE VERDE ISLANDS.
THERE ARE NO SIGNS OF CIRCULATION AT THIS TIME BUT THE ENVIRONMENT
APPEARS TO BE CONDUCIVE FOR A SLOW DEVELOPMENT DURING THE NEXT FEW
DAYS AS THE DISTURBANCE MOVES WESTWARD AT 15 MPH.

ELSEWHERE...TROPICAL CYCLONE FORMATION IS NOT EXPECTED DURING THE
NEXT 48 HOURS.

So why is it's number smaller then the invest that is already here and being looked at? 99L Shouldn't it be 100? Or do they start over?

They start again with the 90 number after reaching 99.

This is really setting up to be one of the most impressive Cape Verde seasons of all time.

Not official, just my opinion.

Without a LLC, what's the difference between this blob of convection and all the others we see in the open Atlantic? I guess the NHC see's potential.

I see something of a hint of turning, maybe not at the surface, but it does look better than the random blobs that show up.

See if its proximity to 99 keeps it down.

The Cape Verde season usually starts in late August but SST's just west of 90L's location are running a degree higher than normal. Because of the enhanced moisture that 99L is providing 90L has a little better chance for development. The NHC was careful to point out that there is no circulation yet.
