#1 Postby mf_dolphin » Thu Sep 25, 2003 6:40 am

The transfer of the http://www.storm2k.org domain is finally completed! WoooHooo. Now to fix all the login problems :-)

Clear your cookies and temp files, below is the step by step :-)

1. Go to TOOLS-INTERNET OPTIONS
2. Click on DELETE COOKIES
3. Click on DELETE FILES (select delete all off-line content)
4. Close IE
5. Reboot
6. Login in to the site again

Why do we have to delete ALL of our cookies? Can't we just delete our Storm2K ones? :?

What about for AOL? I have to sign in each time even though I show up as online. I've also deleted cookies & temp files, signed in, logged out and have to login again.

BTW...this is CajunMama and it's showing me as a guest!

Yeah because I have like 100+ cookies and I hate losing them ... that's why I'm a bit apprehensive when someone tells me "clear your cookies". ;)

CajunMama, make sure you close Internet Explorer and reboot after clearing your cookies. Also make sure you come into the board from the following address http://www.storm2k.org/phpbb2/login.php

Colin, what version of Windows are you using?

It would make sense that the Delete Cookies button should be with the Delete (Temporary Internet) Files button like it is on Windows 98.

If you have the site bookmarked, make sure it points to http://www.storm2k.org/phpbb2

:-)

I have always had this site bookmarked. I re-bookmarked and then tried to log on and I got in the first time :D Thanks Marshall, hope it continues to work! :22:

I have no problems logging in, but it won't stay logged in even though I check that box each time. I deleted the cookie but that didn't help. Any ideas?

Also, I discovered that, as a guest, I am apparently able to edit other guests posts. Just thought you might want to look into that.

Kein, the steps above will fix your issue if you follow them step by step. The failure to stay logged in is a cookie issue. Make sure you use the correct URL for your favorites. :-)

As far as the Guest being able to edit posts, Guest is a user so when you're logged in as "Guest" you can edit any post by anyone that has posted under guest. That's just the way it is :-) The "Tips" forum is the only one that is setup that way...

ok, it's working fine now. Last time I deleted the cookie I didn't close out internet explorer afterwards so I guess that's why it didn't work.

Glad it worked for you Martinsville... Most "board related" problems are corrected by deleting Temp and cookies :-)
