Chat room

#1 Postby Category 5 » Tue Mar 27, 2007 7:28 pm

I recently got a new computer. Java is set up and everything.

I go to the chatroom. Everything is good I type my SN in and connect. Then it says."Connecting to server , please wait"

and it's been connecting for an hour.

Any ideas?

I think it might be an issue with the chatroom's server. I cannot get in either.

Are you using mIRC or the Java version to connect? I always use mIRC: its faster and slows down my computer less than the Java version(the chat button on this site)

I just checked and chat is working fine. Is your Java otherwise working? On one of my computers, Java takes FOREVER to load and sometimes never does, but the computer is fast other than that. Java works fine on the others though.

I don't know how to tell you to fix that, but to get into chat, you can download mIRC. That's what I use. It's a much better chat program.

Try connecting with mIRC again. I have no problems, and there are a few others in the chatroom as well.

Is it something with your firewall possibly? It's odd that you can't get into chat with either method.

I've been having the same problem lately, and this isn't a new computer. My Java has been updated recently, but I can't remember if the problem started before or after that.

Trilian is a free program that I use and has IRC on it as well.. Need program.

It is AIM, MSN, Yahoo, IRC, ICQ

So you can use the same program for all of them, plus for our chatroom.. Just one window on software for ALL of it..

You can download it HERE FOR FREE and if you need any help with installation and/or setup I would be glad to help just let me know.. I really love this program. Have used it for years and will never go back

It may be related to the new version of Java. I'm not a big fan of it... I've heard of problems with it elsewhere, the NWS radars don't work with it, and my computer froze when I tried to install it.

Just thinking of options. Try clearing your cache.
