I think you are seeing the convection wrapping around to the west side.. that makes it look that way.. try covering most that up .. or doing some center fixes and calculations. :)

I don't know looking at the IR Ida seems to slowed suddenly, probably some type of reorganization but it does appear to have slowed.

How much is the reduction when they fly at 1500 feet?

not very much ... they will probably do 75% but could be up to 85 %

Here comes the trough, you can see the low that will ride the southern axis of this trough organizing and passing near El Paso Texas. Nice H5 ridge between that low and the SE US....race is on folks!
