WeatherBug says there was a 106 mph gust in Ocean city Maryland on Thursday, with a 91 mph gust nearby. I´m a bit skeptical, anyone want to hazard an analysis as to whether it was real or not? The 70-80 mph gusts at the mouth of the Chesapeake I believe without problem.

Possible tornado or water spout?

I was working outside in Delaware and Ocean City all day thursday and Friday, mostly right on the beach/boardwalk. The winds were sustained in the 40 mph range with gusts into the 50s. Thats based just on many years working in coastal storms sometimes bringing a hand help anemometer. There was also NO damage anywhere that gusts like that would have created.

Not to take anything away from this storm..worst coastal storm on the Delmarva since February 1998.

Buoy 44009 (26 miles off Delaware) hit its all-time max in 30 years of record: 27 feet.

This should be the end of the negative conditions and should flush them out for next year.
