MED: Subtropical Storm over the western Mediterranean Sea

Another Mediterranean storm:
The model LaMMa previous a warm core cyclone;
Alarm for supercell and floods over Sicily, Sardinia and Tunis;
winds 35 to 60 knots (65-111 km/h).

Floods, and dead caused this storm, waterspouth occured over Sicily and Calabria:
20 dead on Tunis
3 dead in south Italy


600 mm in 4 days over Calabria
350 mm in 24/h over Sardinia
336 mm in 24/h over Calabria (520 mm in 72/h - 460 mm in 54/h)
Lampedusa Is. 207 mm in 24/h
Pantelleria Is. 202 mm in 12/h
160 mm in 1/h over Tunis

In the final part of the event, the little warm core cyclone developed like many tropical depressions;
wind 30-50 knots:

I dont think the last one would qualify as a TC based upon where the center was in relation to the convection. Looks like there was strong shear

That said, this shows that a system does not have to be a TC to be destructive
