Let's hope it stays that way.

even if the "center" that are calling the center goes inland there is so much of a broad circ over the water still that a reformation back over water could happen... next thing you know the center will form west of tampa..lol

I was about to type the very same thing concerning the blob
west of Tampa and reformation. Anyway I can't recall ever seeing such an odd
looking system.

It looks like our solar system in orbit.

Wow that means the entire central Gulf coast could be in the eye wall. :D

The whole thing looks ... interesting but in a wierd, "what is that?" sort of way. I notice that the NHC is still calling for it to achieve Tropical Storm status, but I am getting to where I am not seeing it.

Well, I suppose something could come of that comma shaped section West of Tampa, but wow what a difference a day makes...It looked so promising yesterday. Not that im complaining, Even a tropical storm can knock out power for hours and hours. With the heat we've been experiencing along the gulf coast, nobody needs that..not to mention the destruction that would have come with an even stronger system.

well technically anything is possible.. the models are starting to call for a loop back into the gulf so if it just sits here which for reason Im thinking its not going anywhere then we may not even see a real NE motion... it may just meander and maybe get its self together at some point..

If you want to debate the center location, use a map with surface obs vs. satellite alone or radar. An analysis indicates an elongated trof of low pressure with no real LLC. Crosshairs mark the 15Z NHC location of the center:

This just continues to look more like a trough of low pressure than any TD. I think there is a small chance the eastern area where the convection is heaviest to the WSW of Tampa could develop a separate low if the convection continues to fire there all day, but very small.

Well the NHC did call it a "Large TD" in their morning discussion.

TD 5 does kind of resemble the solar system right now  . I think we have a new definition of a BROAD center.

Disclaimer: I'm likely the smartest guy here... but I have no idea where a tropical cyclone will go. I suggest you take my opinion as a grain of salt. I suggest you look to the National Hurricane Center for accurate info.

This thing's best hope is to spin up a center west of Tampa. That's still where the strongest 850 mb vort is, so I wouldn't discount it, though I don't expect it.
