just becasue Florida is not gonna get any major weather dont mean its all over forget it not important...come up to NC we have had over 8 inches of rain with 4-10 more to come its pooring outside right now blowing sideways at that we could have some major flooding and trees down up here but oh its ok cause it is not happening to Florida! Why do most of yall think when it dont involve your state it is a non event

I don't think that was implied in Bear's post at all. Most of us are much more concerned when something is directly affecting us, it's human nature. Just posing a question for you to think about, not trying to start anything, but if this was forecast to avoid NC completely, would you be so upset? Probably not. All of us can be sympathetic for what others might face/might be going through, but there's no need to get fiesty over a simple post. For us Floridians, flooding events can occur with very little rain due to our low height above sea level, so it's nice when something that was forecast doesn't materialize, and you can't fault some of us for verbalizing that.

Back on topic: down here in S Dade, it's been raining a ton, but we've had several breaks so I don't think we're getting the extreme flooding (so far) that we could've. I'm hoping the tornado threat doesn't materialize, but am glad that most of this is not coming this way, at least at the moment :)

we are in the same boat as Florida we have several place below sea level even have a town named after that we too can flood at the drop of a hat, and no i would not dismiss the weather even for anyone at least not to a non event may whoever that was ment just a non event florida but that is not the was it sounded and sorry if i came over a little to harsh but it does seem to some of us here that unless it is effecting Florida its not important. We are getting heavey rains now wind was blowing pretty good i have not gone out and took measurments seems to have calmed for now. expecting tornados and sever storms tonight according to our nws office and local tv weather "men"

With the cone being shunted eastward, will we still see this same north/south axis of rain through the night across the SFL peninsula or will that too move with the system?

People on here would be able to help you and serve you better sandyb if you would tell us where you are located. You did not include that in your personal information.

According to reports at stormCARIB, the flooding situation in some parts of Jamaica is quite bad: a child has been washed away ... people trapped in their residences and so on.

sandyb - no worries :) My family is in the Piedmont of NC, and I love the OBX, so I'm always thinking of y'all when things head that way. I can't imagine all the rain you guys have been dealing with the last few days, with more, potentially, on the way.

With this being tracked a bit more east, ATM, what are the chances it might miss the eastern US coast altogether??

I think most people's problem with the bear is that he is stating opinion as fact. I can't tell you how many times I have been delayed getting to work in the mornings because street flooding made the roads impassable - literally broken down cars up to their windows in water - with no advance notice. If he is a native, he would logically know better.

Still dark and still raining in SE Broward, sprung a leak! Glad that the winds are not up.

That makes sense to me. South Florida members will have little additional interest in this rainstorm and from a Tropics enthusiast standpoint the NHC says it has about 24 hours of life left in it until it is absorbed.

As bad as Nichole looks now she is much better than 24 or even 12 hours ago, land interaction seems to have tightened it up. The low level turning is much more pronounced and tighter. Looks like a TS has winds like a TS, its a TS.

It hasn't really stopped raining here in ENC for a couple, few days now. We are well saturated at this point. Don't need any wind! Maybe it'll follow Earl and give us another break!

Already getting reports from trees coming down in the area knocking out power, so no enc should not let their guard down. Local mets here are telling that still will get worse as far as rain with higher winds tonight thru tomorrow. By the way I'm in New Bern. IM
