That being said its clearly not lifting out too much right now and its still would be described as a westward motion for now...

The storm has been wobbling WSW and West and WNW for some time now KWT calm down

But seriously, I am a believer of the intense hurricanes create their own environment theory. They have unbelievable control over the environment around them when they are this intense and any promet would probably agree it takes a considerable amount of skill to forecast with any certainty what this storm will do.

Anybody got a satellite pic yet? Not like the NHC sat loops a picture literally from space.

Given its location and what most of the models are showing I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if thats the actual 'true' motion coming into play n the last few hours, the south of west track briefly was a little unexpected though the UKMO did spot it...

Thats not to say it won't keep tracking a little west of the NHC forecast and every bit west may make a difference to Bermuda...

I heard on the news that Igor is so big that he would stretch from Dallas, TX to Washington, D.C. if he were on land. That's big.

I think it's pretty clear that the last 3 hour or so motion has been close to 280, the long term motion or 6 hour motion is still probably due west but it's clearly wobbling more to the north now albeit very slowly. The threat to Bermuda is very real and the latest gfs run puts Igor just to the east of the tiny island.

Indeed HCW, the NHC track is very close to Bermuda and will almost certainly require recon flights, I'd imgine we'll get one ready for the 15th on tomorrow mornings plans if Bermuda is still in the cone.

Looks like such an amazing hurricane there Gustywind, also gives a good idea of the size of the system and I bet it gets bigger as the system gets older...

This is probably too big for a wallpaper, but you could cut it down ;)

If you want Igor in context (which gives you a better idea for it's size, relative to familiar landmarks), check this out:

NOTE: Those files are freaking huge and could probably crash older computers. Open at your own risk!

No doubt they were referring to all of the clouds associated with it and not the extent of the hurricane force or even tropical storm force winds. That’s the media for you: hyping things up to the max.

BTW, some of the satellite images posted in this thread also give the impression that Igor is incredibly huge.

even the last 3 hours have not been more than 275 at best... if it was 17.7 at 5 its now only 17.75 .... nothing substantial enough to call it a turn yet... still moving right along.

It's not meant to turn sharply until later tonight. Igor is still on course.

I heard on the news that Iceland was too cold to have volcanoes. You hear some real nonsense on 24-hour news cycles.

have you seen the latest wobble? lol

Aric ......when do you think this thing may begin it's EWRC's and thus expand.....

I'm looking for this thing to become a bit more of a wave maker.....and it's limited windfield right now is not at all a swell machine.
