Re: will central Gulf coast be protected from 91L?

Will a cold front , etc. protect us ... mid Texas thru
all of the Fla. panhandle.... from 91L?

If not, what do you see as the wind speed at landfall, forward speed and radius of TS winds?

Nervously yours,
bilhhh

PS this is a wonderful forum.

I'd say that the chances of this system impacting the Gulf Coast from TX to the FL Panhandle are incredibly small, close to zero. There is quite strong model agreement on a deep trof across the eastern U.S. next week, with high pressure and very strong wind shear dominating the Gulf of Mexico. I'm not the slightest bit concerned for our clients in the region.

Recon will find out tomorrow..... And I'll probably find out some hours later. Windwards Isls and parts of SA will have strong gusty winds as a minimum. Ican live with heavy rainfall on a boat :D

I'll start securing the boat tomorrow morning.

I'd expect winds of 20-35 mph with gusts to 50-60 mph in squalls as it passes to your south. Squalls may begin late tomorrow evening and continue all day Saturday, ending Sunday morning. It's a huge system, so you could get some very heavy rain, too.

Whatever this system develops into, it's going to be a big weather event for the Lesser Antilles.

Hope for the best and prepare for the worst my friends!

91L looks very impressive for this time of the year. If it enters the Caribbean, it will likely develop into Tomas, which would be the 19th storm of the season and it is not over yet. I think we could enter the Greek letters.

91L and 92L both looks like they could be named tropical storms right now.
