Ok peeps, if what the models show is ex TD 5 returning to the GOM, this thread should merge with the ex TD 5 models thread at active storms forum but I am not clear about it. :)

I'm not sure if it would be classed as TD5, I doubt it cycloneye, but its certainly what gives pretty much 90% of the energy to the system that develops in the gulf.

Looks kind of isolated. Other stations across the river, and out in Steve's neck of the woods don't show totals like that. I just moved the map around to find other weather stations.

I wouldn't be so sure about that, just across the river from there was where the worst flooding was this morning.

Edit: And this one not too far away had a 5 inch per hour rate for a short time this morning too...

What's the latest with the models? Still showing TD5 re-emerging into the gulf?

LCH AFD

THE FORECAST FOR THE UPCOMING WORK WEEK BECOMES MORE COMPLICATED...AS
LATEST RUNS OF BOTH THE GFS AND ECMWF ARE INSISTENT THAT THE
REMNANTS OF TD 5 WILL BE BYPASSED BY A TROF DIGGING INTO THE
NORTHEAST CONUS...AND INSTEAD RETROGRADE SWD TOWARD THE NW GULF.
FOR NOW...HAVE BLENDED THE GFS AND ECMWF SOLUTIONS....WHICH DIFFER
WITH BOTH STRENGTH AND TIMING...AND SHOW A WEAK LOW PRESSURE AREA
TRAVERSING MY MAOR TUE-THU. FUTURE MODEL PROGS WILL OF COURSE NEED
TO BE MONITORED.

I have witnessed 9 inches in 40 min. while interning at WLOX in Biloxi
another near by recording of 6 inches in 40 min.

Disclaimer: I'm likely the smartest guy here... but I have no idea where a tropical cyclone will go. I suggest you take my opinion as a grain of salt. I suggest you look to the National Hurricane Center for accurate info.

This will create an interesting numbering dilemma should it follow through.

It still develops a fairly strong low over land. Looks like it hangs around Pensacola/Mobile area dumping heavy rain before heading north again.

Getting stronger over land. If this gets over water, it could be a potent storm.

I think this one doesn't even need to get over water, but its clearly the leftover remains of TD5...or at least the main energy from it.

Could be some big flooding issues if that came off...

I agree, this looks to be caused by Upper air forcing with the trough, but the water could make it even stronger.

Looks like the tropical energy could contribute to massive rainfall amounts up and down the east coast.

It seems that it will intensify inland, could this be another Allison or Erin that intensified over land because they interacted with other non tropical features?

Allison was the craziest for me. Im in Sugar Land so one of those days we were the bullseye for about 9 inches 3 hours.

Is this storm still anticipated to loop back around?
