Unfortunately it appears as if Haiti is experiencing a rapidly strengthened Tomas and will for the next 24 hours or so. I doubt it's going to be pretty.

A massive Hot-Tower fired from 0315 to 0745Z.
A good chance for RI.

Microwave is off-scale; looks like strong eyewall forming on north quad.

Jim Cantore who is in the capital of Haiti said that the mountains have protected that city where the majority of the tents are and that is a piece of good news.Gusts between 35-40 mph have been blowing there and rain has been heavy at times but light to none on other moments. He said though, the northern part of Haiti will get the most rains and winds.

ADT does not show RI currently.
After a hot-tower fires, the general rule-of thumb is about 18 hrs for RI to kick in.
Land interaction with Cuba and Haiti may in fact hinder RI later today.

Thw worst convection is just to the west of the most heavily damaged part of Haiti but still its certainly strengthened into a healthy system. I suspect it may struggle to keep this up in the next 24hrs as the system moves close to land and the mountions to its east.
Still stronger then a few people expected...
Slightly odd presentation on the microwave imagery as well fwiw...still a decent hurricane heading towards the T&C...
