That's a graphic from George Sambatero's PC Weather Products HURRTRAK progam. It costs about $900 plus a few hundred for a yearly renewal.

pretty irresonsible calling out to sea he goes....we already have reports tourists on the outer banks aren't taking this seriously....look at the eye....and the huge ring of convection extending outward....that dark bank is about 35 or so miles from the center....the storm is forecast to pass just east of hatteras....that deep band is a couple wobbles west of the forecast track...everyone should be off the outer banks....like cantore said...this is 2010....evacuate them.

Eeeh...I would leave...because of riptides and dangerous waters, but, I, personally, don't believe that this system is going to give a direct hit. I think that the waters will be VERY dangerous, but, overall, the outerbanks will be on the Western side and after 12 to 18 hours, danger on land will pass...now, the water will be another story...Again, just my thoughts. I agree - only a 60% chance of rain in a hurricane? ;-)

Based on SFLCane's map, transposed to the west for the safe side (thinking it will make landfall), I would make these changes to warnings at 11 pm:

Hurricane Warning and Watch - Current areas seem reasonable.

Tropical Storm Warning - Add the following areas:

*Bogue Inlet, NC to South Santee River, SC (that is pretty close as it is)
*Chesapeake Bay from New Point Comfort, VA to Drum Point, MD

Tropical Storm Watch - Add the following areas:

*Chesapeake Bay from Sandy Point, MD to Drum Point, MD
*Tidal Potomac from Indian Head, VA downstream

Alright, got a 15 flashlight pack, batteries included...9 hours of battery life each. So, hopefully if the power goes out for an extended period of time we at least have light...

Oh yeah, overkill...15 flashlights...lol...

Probably they account for a slight chance the storm may miss completely. Still, the chance of rain should be 80-90%.
