Raebie, I was in Illinois watching, and called Lake Charles, while everyone, including forecasters from the NHC practically calling me an idiot. Everyone said Texas, even south of Galveston....just watch the big picture....step back and look at the weather patterns on the globe. You can foresee it unfolding if you step back and look at the big picture. The trough is picking it up..it is going to be close, but, it's going NE!! Any time anyone of us could be wrong, but, I DON"T see it hitting the NE...maybe skirt NC, but, that's it with this one. You want to know where the real serious concern is??? Gaston. This could be trouble.

I say its likely, though I think it will depend on if Earl continues moving NNW or if he wobbles back west.

Only if the track shifts west so much that it is within 20-30 miles of Hatteras. A TS Warning/cane watch seems reasonable right now.

Sean's story is 100% true, I remember it clearly. The weather forecaster DT at wxrisk.com also seems to agree with a decreasing threat for a landfall.

No. It's not going northeast. Supposed to later though, which will hopefully spare the east coast a direct hit, but many areas could get TS winds or higher even if it stays offshore. This is not a non event.

Will be interesting to see how Earl interacts with this front. Not just how the front will turn him, but weather-wise. Remember Wilma, and the front that turned her into SW Fla and marched across S. Fla as a Cat 1 over Eastern S. Fla. I've been through many systems down there, but there was something very bizarre (excuse my highly technical terms :) ) going on with Wilma and that front, that made her seem WAY stronger than a Cat 1 over Broward County. Anyone have any thoughts on that, and how it will effect NC coast and points north?

And thanks all for the usual, awesome graphics and information!
