Sorry--and no sarcasm intended here at all...but what's the riddle? That makes perfect sense, I think.

Moronic question: What does that mean for Southeastern VA?

Not a moronic question at all. That's what we're all here for. Better get your preparations done. This means they will probably not adjust the forecast track much and SE VA will be very close to the center of a strong hurricane. Good luck and stick with us here.

No it doesn't... normally when there is a front approaching... storms move from the W to E across the state. Here we had a surge of I don't know what push South East off the Ocean into the state... really weird. I'm currently under a Severe TStorm warning too, crazy!

think he meant sea breeze thunderstorms. typical florida pattern is west to east motion. and with a trough should be sw to NE.. today that moving to the west or wsw.. indicating possible ridging.. filling in

Eye is starting to clear out....don't see the shear the NHC is talking about. Starting to feel the long wave over the EC....

Was talking with my Daughter-in-law about Irene and that it is forecast to hit them in the Norfolk area when the earthquake hit. She said it was rocking and rolling.

So he meant sea breeze storms moving east, not sea breeze. The sea breeze on the Atlantic side can only come with an easterly component, obviously.

Sure, if the front is close enough that the mean flow in the atmosphere is W to E then storms move that way (If a front is not close enough, then normal pop up storms can move E to W, S to N, whatever the mean flow is). But that's not the point of the OP. He said that afternoon sea breezes are coming from the East. If you live in Florida, especially toward the east cost, that's really the only direction a sea breeze CAN come from, right?

I'm sorry. You really lost me here. How did a set of storms push South east off the ocean and into the state? You mean south west? Or are you on the west coast of Fla and do you mean the Gulf, not the Ocean?

Anyway, way off topic. Never mind.

BTW, those sea breeze storms over Melbourne and vicinity were formed on outflow boundaries that ejected southwestward from the offshore thunderstorm cluster off of GA and north FL. You can see it clearly on the visible. Now back to topic...

I was wondering about that. I saw T-storms off Daytona on Weather Channel moving south-sw. I thought it would be away from coast like eastward. Correct me if I'm wrong here.
