Kadena METAR would appear to back that up, sustained winds have dropped to just above gale force, and not showing any rain in the ob:

Thanks, Artist...By the way, just how horrific is property insurance in Florida? My husband is approaching his last tour in the Marine Corps and we have been thinking of settling down there. I think, at this point, we're getting used to the storms. Sure beats the midwest and winter snow!

Wow...It seems so quiet, now compared to all the noise we've had all night and most of the day. I'm ready for another nap! 3 hours of sleep isn't doing me any favors.

yeah, it looks like you have awhile yet to have to deal with this. Not fun. At least it is day light for what is coming next. Hope those bands don't get any stronger for you. Have to hit the hay here, but will check to see how things have gone in the morning fo you all! Take care!

Yeah, no rain right now and this has been a really wet storm. Hope James is faring well getting his video. I was trying to film in rain and it isn't fun. The good thing is that Okinawa isn't really known for its flooding problems.

I suspect you guys are in the outer eyewall rather than just a moat. That's what the radar presentation looks like to me, at least.

Yeah, I'm really pissed off that the Kadena pressure gauge got taken out so early today! Robbed us of some good observations.

There are a few other reporting stations on Weather Underground, though I'm not sure how accurate their obs are:

I think the issue here isn't so much the strongest winds, but the duration. You guys are in for another good 12-24 hours of this...

True. I remember when Hurricane Frances weakened from a Category 4 to a Category 2. Some people began writing Frances off as a dud. Then Frances slowed to a crawl......

Kind of jealous...always wanted to see inside the eye of a hurricane (typhoon in your case). To see the sun shining and winds dying off, and looking off to the short distance and seeing the eyewall looming, knowing all heck is breaking lose under it. Then watching it approach and things go downhill.
