ATL: BERYL - Post-Tropical

Wow, Beryl looking better and better. Not very often you see a system moving due west towards NE Florida, especially in May. I know Beryl will cause problems, but from a weather watcher perspective this is a perfect system to watch from the porch.

I'm near Orange Park in the Argyle area of Jacksonville, and I can tell you most are not prepared for a hurricane. We were at the pool with the kids earlier. As a matter of fact, I've got the grill going outside now trying to finish up before the meat of the storm hits. The wife just went to Target though and it's packed. Most were saying they just heard there was even a storm coming let alone a potential hurricane.

Has recon hit the NE or NW quadrants?

They've flown through the NW quadrant. They're on their way to the SE now.

I think these winds were measured on the western approach to the center, no telling what they find in the northern convection!

Landfall looks to be near St. Augustine at this rate.

Notice those 60-73 kt FL winds...those are headed directly at Jacksonville right now.

FL winds need to be 80 kt to support Hurricane Beryl.

You mean beat Hurricane Alma? I was just going to ask if there was ever a May landfalling hurricane anywhere in the Atlantic basin, let alone the US.

First off, I pray for everyones safety in NE FL & SE GA as Beryl moves ashore! I haven't seen much as to how soon after moving ashore, he's expected to turn NE? I'm on the coast @ the NC/SC line & kinda wondering what I might be in store for here in a couple days? Any input appreciated - stay safe Y'ALL!

If it can maintain that intensity at landfall, either way it is interesting. Surprised you folks haven't given it a separate article on the Wiki yet though :p

PRESENT MOVEMENT...W OR 265 DEGREES AT 10 MPH...17 KM/H

Slightly south of west (270 degrees). I don't think It would matter that much, though.
