stephen23 wrote:I have a question. Just back from eating dinner and was looking at this. From where this appears to probably make landfall there is a valley across Haiti that elevations are less then 1000 ft above sea level in that area all the way across island. If this system hits the valley will that help it maintain strength?

Seriously though they would have specified in the Advisory if it was a coastal warning or not. Being that all of inhabited Broward and Dade county lives within 15 lies of the shore.. A warning usually extends to the entire area.. I don't believe I've ever seen a coastal advisory for SE Florida
This was the wording from the advisory
"THE FLORIDA EAST COAST FROM JUPITER INLET SOUTHWARD"

Should be back over water soon as the peninsula is rather narrow but mountainous. Isaac should reintensify before incountering Cuba. If Isaac remains on a NW course, the cyclone could cross the extreme eastern tip of Cuba and reach the Atlantic Ocean where it shoud again reintensify. This could allow Isaac to become a hurricane before reaching Florida. I belive this will likely happen. So if you are in south Florida and the Keys prepare for a hurricane. There is a small possibility that Isaac could rapidly intensify over the Florida Straits........MGC
The above is the opinion of MGC and not an official forecast.

If Isaac continues on its current northwest course, instead of jogging to the west-northwest as models are forecasting, it could present an even bigger problem for the folks in southeast Florida.

There ALREADY IS a hurricane watch for SE FL south of Miami.
Look at the pink band outside of the blue on the NHC tracking map - that's a hurricane watch.
