Hello. Like others, I've been lurking for a while but I'm glad I finally clicked the register button 8-) .

And here's my first contribution: Miami long range radar starting to show Isaac.

I really can see the NHC adjusting the cone as far as they have to to get New Orleans into the cone, since it looks like almost all the models have moved West at least a little.

What's recon finding out there artist? Haven't seen a vdm yet - but looks like they are getting close to fixing one.

I know there's a separate thread to report observations but it is 3am and i think for everyone getting a sense of what is actually occurring on the ground...finally observations we can get a hold of...speaks to the overall intensity and reach of the bands.

You start getting gusts to 60mph, that's when sporadic power outages start usually.

Sonde noted at wind shift is available below. 11PM EDT track plotted.

996 mb measured, with some wind, so maybe 995 mb. They couldn't get quite close enough to Cuba it would appear, but they got pretty close so that might be about the pressure. So the center is not under the larger convection, but does have some associated with it.

surface winds of around the lows 40's in kts so far. They should, I hope be able to get a vdm soon! And the barometirc pressure reading seems to not be reporting.

they haven't sampled the ne quadrant yet, where the highest winds are usually found.

Impressive gust for being 250+ miles to the NW of the center!!!

NWS Miami website has a twitter feed section on the top right...i think i was off 1 mph...gust was to 60 mph...sorry pic is hard to read - it's the blue box on the top right section, first line (website link below)

Center might pass over or near this buoy. Pressure has been steadily dropping.
