Solar heating during the day today should destabilize the air and expect to see thunderstorms fire up over land late this afternoon.

Most likely they will mix into Isaac and help with core heating.

Looking at early vis loop, the low level flow from the northwest caribbean will likely provide tons of moist air for big time T-storms in central and western Cuba.

Issac growing?

wxman57 you got a city picked out for where Isaac's eye might pass thru? I just want to make sure I am on the west side of the eye please, thanks

Batten down the hatches, Frank. This will be your new house's first big test. Could easily be Gulfport. Possibly west of there. Looking at most likely Cat 2 (Georges comes to mind) but possible Cat 3.

So what exactly is driving the shift west? The ridge retreating with the trough not dipping far enough down to pull him more north?

It's too early to be 'sure' of anything. If I were in MS I would not take any chances at this point.

After going through Jeanne for 3 days I can attest to what extended period of Tropical Storm force winds are capable of. I am really getting worried for NO as we have no idea if those levies will hold with a Cat 2 or better storm surge if they take a direct hit.

Wind gusts to 44 and 47 mph at Homestead and Ft Laud at 8 am. Where are all our friends in SE FL this morning? Let see some reports. On this wider SAT view, you can see how large the storm is and how its starting to wrap itself up. Getting some descending air off the Cuban mainland now which is putting a lid on heavy convection. With daytime heating and as the storm pulls away from Cuba, I expect a CDO to develop this afternoon.

We live just west of Gulfport. Outside and inside prep is mostly done, we'll finish that today. Our weather radio went off about 4 this morning. We are watching very closely.

If I remember correctly, Katrinia was a real slow mover in comparison to Isaac?

I live in west Kendall and to be honest I've had more severe tstorms in the last month than what I've seen so far. Hasn't been that windy either. I'm under the impression work tomorrow will be business as usual based on what's transpired thus far.

Here is a fellow SE Floridian. There was a band that rolled thru up here in Palm Beach County around 6 that packed a decent punch. Gusted up to around 40mph.

I know radar is not the best way to track the center, but since recon is not out there atm :D

looks like a heading towards Marathon Key?

Center starting to be visible on the keys radar, and appears to be solidly on the NHC track.

Nice squalls moving through my area, 30+ mph winds and heavy rains.

I'm shocked how the models keep trending west, incredible system to track.

We're here. A band rolled through this morning and the noise woke me up - windy and rain. Nothing earth-shattering to be sure, but more than Ernesto a few years ago!

As long as power stays on, I will be happy.

SW. Fl reporting in for first time this year but have been here and reading. Things are very quiet in Naples/Bonita Springs so far. Expecting about 3" of rain today and tonight along the coast and winds from 25-50 mph.

Right now it is cooler than normal with very little wind and no rain.

Best of luck to everyone in the path of Isaac and thoughts & prayers with those already affected.

Now that is a spaghetti model LOL. In Highland County, it has been quiet, no real rain and the wind has been up to about 15MPH. I am northwest of Lake Okeechobie by 25 miles.
