Yes, please do. That would be great first hand information.

But better to do it on the Observations thread instead of this one.

OMG -- this is a brand new member willing to contribute real-time OBS from NOLA and you are asking her/him to post in another forum? These H discussion threads mostly get quiet after landfall anyway, so can we accommodate this one new poster's input for now? Next year, she/he will become more familiar with the site.

Those familiar with the lay of the "land" (I use that term loosely) in coastal La, does it seem like Barataria Bay looks likely to be the ultimate destination for Isaac? Or other side of the river, closer to the sound?

It looks like the cluster of strong stuff seems headed for the horseshoe between GI and Venice, that area between the Grand Terre chain/Quatre Bayous and maybe Bastain Bay? I'm a complete neophyte, so disregard if I'm totally wrong.

What are the implications surge wise if it's one side of the river or the other?

(1) Sometimes I think peeps are taking their cues from the dropsonde fix points as opposed to the storm motion over a number of hours or days. So, if you look at the dropsondes over the last 3 hours it looks like Isaac has been doing circles out in the Gulf....and I think that *can* become a case of looking at the trees but missing the forrest.

(2) Local observation...rain bands moving in from SE to NW, gusty winds associated with the bands. However, so far the gusts aren't as potent as I thought they would be. The bands are rather passing through and to the north. In south-central Mississippi (where these bands end up) they really ramp it up and are producing severe thunderstorms around Laurel-Hattiesburg.

Same thing happened here in Tampa past few days. East Coast of FL (farthest from storm) got drenched and damage reported. Not much at all in Tampa (relatively speaking). I got 2.54 inches in my rain gauge from Saturday through Monday night!

To answer your question ... yes. We are even seeing high cloudiness from Isaac here in south central Texas.

Thanks. Didn't realize the effects from him were being felt so far west. I thought we were going to have north winds and a clear day, so was surprised by the clouds.

A couple of screen shots of Isaac using SimuAWIPS. Pretty cool tool for the weather enthusiast that I stumbled upon today. Best of all is it's free

I just left Lafeyette, LA and am on Hwy 90 heading to Morgan City. For Gustav I made a stand near here in New Iberia.

Does anyone want some reports? I was going to Houma but may choose Morgan City.

Been doing this for a long time. :D

The air here is very warm and moist, you can feel the energy in the air. Conditions are going downhill will huge waves breaking out on Pensacola Beach, and on Bayfront seawall! I am going back on what I said earlier (eating crow as you guys say), and think this thing still will strengthen a bit more perhaps from the way the outside conditions are.

I think Barateria bay looks like ground zero for now. However if some of the models verify we could see Morgan city to vermillion bay. I know it is getting bad here in cut off which is only about 25 miles as the crow flies from GI.

Two friendly reminders:

1) If a member feels a post has violated a rule or is located in a thread which isn't entirely appropriate, report the post and we admins/mods will take care of it. Please do not make public posts and police your fellow members that way.

2) Yes, posts about observations for Isaac are supposed to be in the observation thread. In this case, Puddinhead did just that and provided us with a great report.
