For the central north Pacific, between 140°W and 180.

1. A surface trough about 900 miles south of Kauai is moving west slowly. Thunderstorms are flaring up along the trough but there is little sign of a circulation. There is a low chance, 10 percent, of this system becoming a tropical cyclone during the next 48 hours.

Elsewhere, no tropical cyclones are expected through Saturday afternoon.

I am not a meteorologist, and any posts made by me are not official forecasts or to be interpreted as being intelligent. These posts are just my opinions and are probably silly opinions.

There's probably about a 10% chance, at least in the next couple days.

I'm no expert, everything I say should be taken with a large amount of salt. I could easily be very, very wrong.

1. A weak surface low about 900 miles south-southwest of Lihue is moving west slowly. Thunderstorms near the low weakened since last night as the low moved into a higher wind shear environment. While thunderstorms may redevelop, they will likely remain disorganized. There is a low chance, near 0 percent, of this system becoming a tropical cyclone during the next 48 hours.
