First to tell you that I split your post from the main recon thread and created a recon discussion thread to leave that one for the posting of the data. All discussions about the recon missions will be here. Very soon, todays Plan of the Day should be out and we will know if this afternoon's mission is going or not.

Ok guess your observation that it didn't have enough convection to warrant recon was correct.

I am surprised that NHC doesn't have a gulfstream jet planned so far.

What's the difference in what the Gulf Stream does vs the HH?

That jet samples the upper atmosphere to see how the pattern is shaping up.

Ok. I'm really anxious to see where the center is fixed and what the 5pm track looks like. Right now I'm dead ahead in the cone.

How exactly do I interpret the data in the recon thread? Which represents winds, pressure and so on?

By the way I understand that pressure of 996.8 and winds 42kt at flight level so far.

Hi, no I haven't left forever but can only be on for a little while for a little while longer. Since I was last here in late August I've spent days in the hospital to recovering at home which is where I am now. A lesson I learned the hard way is to pace yourself in life and that includes recon because I went down with the worst case of pneumonia I've ever had, got back up and went back down 3 weeks later with the same junk once more. Now I'm as weak as a new born kitten but gaining strength back daily and the specialists I've been working with say I should be back to 100% in another week or two but I still have to watch how much I do and have learned to just stop at times. Never thought it could happen to me....but it did. Keep up the great work people and I'll see ya when I see ya.
