Can see this on GR3 radar as well. Pretty sure it's the real deal, i.e. actual eye forming. We want to see a few more images though.

could be a dry slot.. no storm is perfectly vertically stacked.. velocities are looking at about 9k feet and it has center a tad to the east..

The Traditional Floaters are satellites looking down on the storm clouds. The Radars are different and show where there is actually convection instead of just Clouds. The Radar signature changes before you see the affects in the clouds.

Hi King. You mean that eye feature on the radar? Because there's still higher level clouds covering the eye which is developing at mid-levels first. You won't see it on floater satellites until the clouds clear out.

Probably because it's at lower levels rather than a truly defined/stacked feature. More likely a clear slot than an eye feature.

It looks like that is the center.. but looking at cimms may have ran into a spike in the shear.. lets see if convection develops around it again.. I know the gulfstream found a good deal of dry air to ne that may be having some impact. would be temporary.. was only a pocket of dry air..

Looking back at current radar images, I am very doubtful that the "eye-looking thing" (not necessarily an eye feature) is an actual eye. I'm taking a wait-and-see approach, but at the moment, I'm very doubtful that that will be developing into a mature eye.

I don't see much deep convection to its west to be honest.

Re: ATL: ARTHUR - Tropical Storm - Discussion
Yeah that hole in the radar was a dry slot like Aric suspected. But does look like one is forming not far to the east of there anyway. A good microwave sat would be big help now.

Thank you Pete. Great to learn something new!
Stay safe, this thing looks like it will be a close call.
