Super Typhoon Rammasun making landfall with winds of 135 knots!

Although ADT had it higher 7.1 or 143 knots!

The bashers were out full force when this was approaching the P.I saying overestimate but since this left the P.I and rapidly intensified over the South china sea no one was saying JT was underestimating

JMA did not change the intensity of Rammasun, leaving it officially at 90 kts (165 km/h) which is still a very strong typhoon. Looks more like 105 kts (195 km/h) in JMA 10-min scale.

Is Hainan an urbanized area? Yeah even RC structures can easily be smashed by a few Cat5 wind gusts. Damage would be greater in structures reaching flight level...

Wow that sucks. Even in the Phils when the storm was much weaker than it is now, there were a lot of smashed window glasses from high-rise buildings in Metro Manila. One can just imagine what it will be like this time over that city...

The two largest cities in the province, Haikou and Sanya, are highly modernized including many skyscrapers in the urban areas and the former one is about to be directly affect by a 135kt super typhoon

Here is a non-lastest satellite imagery with forecast map for those who are not familiar with places in China. Wenchang is labeled south of Bamen Bay

Haikou getting pounded right now. Looks like she is trying to follow right through the Qiongzhou Strait. I am not sure what kind of impact this will have on allowing Rammasun to keep its core intact, but it likes staying over water and from what I understand its pretty deep right there.
