Oh my...Millions of people must be breathing a sigh of relief for this false info

This has yet to pass cebu province and negros occidental province where over 5.6 million people live not to mention the other islands that's along the path...

certainly this is not a typhoon but yeah downgrading it is indeed ridiculous.
convection meanwhile continues to explode south and north of the storm's center.

People misled and kept saying "thank God"... "good bye Seniang"

I have never gotten anywhere this disappointed and angry at a met agency, misleading nearly 10 million people.

I watched the local news with some PAGASA forecasters on air and I noticed some of the known weather specialists of the agency aren't there...I should know because they usually appear during news interviews but now they're not present...

I suspect some of the more skilled weathermen are off to a Yuletide vacation or something... They said Jangmi's "weakening" should be expected because it's crossing the islands...well now that clearly isn't the case, with all due respect. :double:

I expect the weakening trend to commence once it's over Negros Island.
But right now... IMO, this is a case of a premature downgrade by PAGASA.

I've been following the radar and the center where the eye was got obscured by that heavy convective blowup southeast of you...it's likely a reflection of the radar beam...

What is the strongest cebu city and cebu province typhoon to ever make landfall on record?

I believe its Super Typhoon Mike (Ruping) of 1990. Almost leveled the city.

I remember my parent's stories of Ruping (Mike), warnings were issued that DAY of the worst impact. Classes were half day. Winds were howling very very hard, destroyed trees and houses and left us without power and water for about a month.

It's a good thing this isn't anything like Mike, if it was you wouldn't be able to post online because of massive downed electric posts. But I'm really concerned more about the rainfall. It's blowing up a cold dense overcast again.

Amazing transformation with those two blobs blowing up and the southern one transforms to a CDO while the *faint* eye positions itself underneath it and the northern one is one heck of a spiral band...It's intensifying yet again...
