from what I understand there is a way to do so that they open up in another tab/window. Yours opens up in the same window like mine.

OK, I just saw the radar loop out of PR...showing Gabrielle to the south and by what I can see from the radar, this thing is NOT weakening. It has a very nice circulation and quite intense rainbands on the North and East side of the center. This is by far one of the most impressive system I've seen in the Atlantic this year...up there with Fernand. Looking at the track, I get memories of Hortense '96...anyone else seeing this? Also, could it be merging with the thing to its east? If so, these mergers are something to watch for, as they have produced healthy storms in the past. Hopefully Puerto Rico will fare OK with this new TS.

I'm trying to remember correctly, but didn't Andrew come out of a situation like this? I know there was a big system that came out of a small tropical system merging with another undeveloped tropical wave, just can't remember which one.

Wow...take a look at some of the one hour rain rates offshore.

4 inch per hour and possibly higher. That is some intense rain!

The storm is continuing to develop with burst of vigorous convection near the center of TD.

Doppler radar estimates offshore that over 10 inches have fallen in some areas. This over one of the islands could cause some major trouble. Bands are rotating in now towards Puerto Rico so stay safe and alert. Hopefully none of these bands with 4+ inches per hour set up over y'all.

Convection to the NorthEast is quickly getting less intense as it's being drawn into Gabrielle.

vorticity increasing with Gabrielle and decreasing again with the system to the NE (which shows up as well with a decrease in convection to the NE.)

people people... the back and forth is silly. take a look at all available data.. radar atm especially being its only look from 1500 to 5000 feet clearly the nhc points are off. the interaction with that large are has bee causing model issues and even genesis... there is clearly a expanding envelope of convection and banding.. the large area if persists is going to cause some motion issues and intensity. but by no means is dying its only become better organized. the nhc has go off consensus and thus will vary with the models so if the models dont agree well just like on here neither to our consensus... been saying it for many years on here.. take small incremental forecasts really no more than 12 to 24 hr only thing that can be deduced from trends.

Convection in RFQ has expanded quite a bit this evening.....looking like there will be a big flash flood issue in PR. Remember, turn around, don't drown.....everyone stay safe in PR.
